This is the best cruiser for the price in my opinion.
Things wrong with the bike are all minor.
Seat is uncomfortable on long runs. The aftermarket has many seats to take care of that.
Front springs are too soft and rear shocks a little stiff. Progressive springs and shocks handle that issue.
The VTX 1300 Retro is a beautiful and well built machine. As soon as I saw it I was sold.
Shaft drive and water cooled for low maintenance and smooth operation.
The great sound and power of the single pin crank motor.
The simplicity and adjust ability if the CV carb. I use this bike to commute in the warmer months. I ride for pleasure on the weekends.
This bike has never let me down. I get on it and have a hard time removing the smile from my face when I ride.
The bike brakes and handles well and has a low center of gravity.
The motor has low end grunt and the transmission shifts with authority.
The aftermarket has a lot of items for this bike, so buying it is the down payment. Customizing the bike to suit your needs is part of the fun.
I will keep this bike for 10 years.
For the money this is one of the all-around best cruisers out there in my opinion. It is not a perfect bike by any means, but anything the owner doesn't like can easily be modified by the owner. The web has an extensive knowledgebase to help in that regard.
In summary, every day I ride my X, it turns heads. Period. And it was under 10K to boot!
