Hi,

Does anyone have any info on the blue metallic paint that Yamaha use on their Townmate T80... i.e. colour code, name, supplier etc. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ray.

As far as I know the paint is "YAMAHA number 293"

This is a Towmmate forum that may be of use to you:

UPDATE: Today, I sold my T80 Townmate for 40 quid. I have now got a job closer to home, so I do not need to commute 115 miles a day! Over the last 5 years I have saved an absolute fortune! The bike is very worn out now, so I sold it!

That's amazing! That bike survived 5 years of high mileage.

I have started stripping a T50 just now; the engine is off to a friend to check out and rebuild. I am struggling at the moment with the swing arm pivot bolt being seized. My thoughts are to keep applying Plusgas/WD40 for a few days, then take it to someone with an airgun to try and dislodge it. Any other ideas?

Couldn't believe it when I found out that the pivot bolts were not available! Think I have located one in Germany though.

Does anyone know where to get the side panel decals and the 2 decals on the frame under the seat area?

Sorry for all the questions!

Can I attach an older side stand from a T80 on a newer T80? Can someone help me?

No, you cannot attach a side stand to the later Townmate as it fits onto the footrests. The earlier footrests had a bracket welded on to attach the side stand, but the later ones do not have the bracket.

If it had 4 gears, it was a T80 (the T50 only has 3). Maybe it had been fitted with a T50 exhaust; although these look the same as the T80, the T50 is restricted, & even on a T80 it will only do 30/35mph. The T80 should be good for 50mph flat out, & should cruise at 45mph.

Hammerite Smootrite Blue is a good match, & is available in spray cans & normal tins from most hardware shops.

I have got a very old Townmate, which just failed on rear indicators not being bright enough, together with the brake light not being effective quick enough. Any ideas on how to put this right? Very grateful for any advice.

Check the wiring connectors for bad contacts & that the earthing points are clean. Bulbs in indicators are 6v 10 watt, rear light/stop light is 6v 5/21 watt, check they are the correct type. Here is a link to the T80 wiring diagram http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=2&u=17776916

Your indicators not being bright enough is a bad earth. You could also take the bulbs out and rub them a little on a piece of emery. Your brake light, is operated from the front and rear brakes, you need to have them adjusted correctly to enable the light to come on as soon as you start to put pressure on the pedal or pull the front brake lever.

Got a 30 year old Townmate and still going strong. 87,000 on the original engine. I posted last on here in 2006, Thought I would just let everyone know it's still going strong and managed to find that rear wheel via eBay 8 years ago.

I have a E reg T50. Does anyone know what it's worth? It's all original and has a full MoT. What do they go for?

19th Nov 2014, 16:45

Hi,

It's worth what someone is willing to pay. Have you any pics? MoT? Miles? Condition?

I paid £200 for mine with 10,000 miles and 12 months MoT.

Cliff.

Hello, I just bought a Townmate T80, and I need a new pipe. What's got the same engine as it, so I can get a new pipe?

eBay has lots of pipes.

The T80s are running still in Greece.

8th May 2015, 18:43

I have been looking for a T80 as my BMW has got to an age where things are costing more and more money to keep it on the road. Does anyone have a running T80 for sale for cheap? I was in Greece last year and they have them everywhere, but the UK seems to be hiking up the prices of them.

Email on seandean@live.Co.UK or 07920504688. Thanks.
