2003 Yamaha XVZ1300D Venture Royale review from United States of America

Since I have only ridden 2000 miles on this bike, it is hard for me to judge how really reliable it is, but if it is half as reliable as my 86 Venture Royale was, it will definitely be an awesome bike.

The only service so far was the replacement of the wimpy OEM horn, which I replaced with a 132db. Stebel Air Horn, probably one of the best safety items to install on any motorcycle.

The previous owner never had any problems with it, only complaining about the weight, 860lbs. wet. This was why he traded for a 2006 Honda Goldwing with a Trike conversion. This gentleman was 72 years old.

I really like the power for such a heavy bike. I have no problems keeping up with anything in its class. I get about 45 MPG while cruising 2 up and with luggage.

The build quality is still very apparent with Yamaha. Everything works as it should. The paint and chrome is first class.

The longer wheelbase offers my wife and I more room than the 86 Venture did. The only change I made for comfort was the addition of a Utopia driver's backrest, which I also had on the old bike. Much better on those long hauls. I may try a bit lower windshield in the future so I can see over the top.
