2011 BRP Can-Am Spyder RT

Summary:

The RT more than exceeded my parameters

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

After a learning curve, the RT exceeded expectations.

2011 BRP Can-Am Spyder RT

Summary:

Would never buy anything else

Faults:

Problems getting the cruise to work, quite a few recalls.

General Comments:

I love everything about my new 2011 Can-Am Spyder RTS.

The changes in the suspension make the Spyder so much better at handling the curves, and the passenger seat changes are awesome.

Of course the Spyder gets a lot of attention wherever I go, and I tell people that after driving it, I wouldn't consider buying anything else.

My only complaint is that I put on a lot of miles on my bike, over 9000 miles on my 2010, and I feel that BRP should also include highway pegs for those long trips, along with a sassier muffler option.

2011 BRP Can-Am Spyder RT

Summary:

Well thought out

Faults:

Digital MPH reading correct, but analog MPH gauge did not match all the time, especially when using cruise control. Dealer serviced, under warranty, completed in timely, courteous and thorough manner by replacing cluster, part #710002799.

At same time, replaced/updated rear brake spring, part #705601065.

General Comments:

My first cycle. So far, I could not be any happier with my Can Am RTS. Extremely enjoyable.

This was the dealer's demo bike, and I received not only a very good discount, but also extensive overview and training on the delivery date.

Been averaging 33 MPG, which is better than my SUV, but just seems that a 6th gear, or lower RPM's in 5th gear, would, in my mind, be the icing on the cake.

Very comfortable.

2011 BRP Can-Am Spyder RT

Summary:

The Spyder is a life saver for us old fogies

Faults:

Lost the clutch at 260 miles. Shimmed wrong at the factory.

General Comments:

This cycle has a learning curve.

Once you relax and let the machines many features work, it is great.

Pegs are hard on your feet and legs after 25 or so miles.

Wife thinks it is a great smooth ride as a passenger.

A lot of activity to learn with the left hand.

Good, clean, readable gauges and information.

Dash turn signal indicators are VERY HARD to see in daylight.

Have fellow riders tell me it's hard to see rear turn signals.

Cannot beat the semi-auto transmission.

Gas mileage (31MPG) is disappointing.

2011 BRP Can-Am Spyder RT

Summary:

It's much safer

Faults:

It was great, no problems with the motorcycle.

General Comments:

This new motorcycle has no aftermarket things to buy, it has no stretch bars, which makes it uncomfortable after a long ride. Can't add anything to it. It's harder to handle on curvy roads.

There are lots of things to buy from Kuryakin, Custom Dynamics, Kewlmetals and Elka shocks, which is what you need to make the RT handle like a Corvette thru the corners. We have 20000 miles on ours, and would buy another in a heart beat. The only thing is BRP dropped Black for 2012.
