I have just bought my 2nd CB1000 Custom. This is one awesome motorcycle. It is the best all round cruiser I have ever ridden. My first I owned for about 5 years, then sold it around 8 years ago (mistake).

Last week I found my current one. It has 36k miles and is in great shape for the age. I plan on repainting as the color is the 2 tone brown, which I do not like. I will be going back to the black/grey color that I had before and liked so much. If you have a chance at owning one of these beauties, you will not be disappointed.

I have loved my CB1000 for 17 years. Recently was considering selling or trading for a Goldwing. After reading these comments I have changed my mind and will keep it. I paid $1350 for it back in 92 with 14k miles on it. It now has over 32k and I wouldn't take less than $2500. The only problems I have had are: Ignition coils replaced once, replaced pulse generator last year and the number one major expense has been replacing the tires. (getting from 0-60 in record speed has it's price)

I purchased a replacement seat cover from JC Whitney about 5yrs ago for around $40. Looks almost original except for missing the "Honda" logo on the back. Replaced the rubber turn signal mounts, also purchased from JC Whitney. Had to modify slightly, but was well worth the savings.

Ride safely, and always wear a helmet so you can live to ride another day!!

I have had my CB 1000c for a little over a year. Recently I had to replace the valves because 2 of them burnt up. Does anyone know where I can get a head gasket? This part is no longer made by Honda and is proving to be very rare and hard to find. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to ride it again. I love this bike.

Bought a 83 CB1000 a little over a year ago. It needed a lot of brake work, plus tires & shocks. But has been a great bike so far.

Two questions for anyone out there who might know - are there oversize pistons and/or valves available for this bike? And, are there high performance coils available for the bike?

Thanks.

I stumbled upon my 83 CB1000C 18 months ago. I simply wanted to do my usual, bring one more back to life, fix, ride, sell.

Well I fell in love after my 8th or 9th ride.

I bought this black beauty for 100 dollars, cleaned carbs, battery, fixed brakes, and a lot of time and patience. I love this bike. M.L.JOHNSON.

I had buy a Honda CB 1000 custom with 14,000 miles. I cleaned it, and did some minor little painting.

This bike is superb. I am 64, been riding for more than 40 years, own a CBX 1000, a Honda 750 KZ model 1979, Goldwing 07 and some others, but this one is great and strong. I enjoy it very much, drive it under the sun fl. Good for the bike.

If someone can sell me the owner's manual by making some copy, I will pay for it, and if you wish for pictures, glad to send some. My e mail is harryusa@comcast.net

I bought a CB1000C about 2 years ago. It was left behind a house, out in the country for about 8 or 9 years. I completely disassembled everything but I did not take the engine/trans out due to the weight. I sandblasted the frame and engine, rebuilt the carbs, master cylinders, calipers, tuned my own carbs and painted the essentials. I also put Progressive springs in the forks and new seals. The rear shocks were fine.

I started riding it last year after 11 months of working on it and it has been a great bike. Only thing is, it's been exhibiting a noise from the engine. Sounds like it is probably the cam chain tensioner. What all do I have to do to fix it? Is there a place to go for better than OEM parts? I also need better instructions than the service manual. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS!

I am looking to replace the rear tire on my CB1000. It appears that the original white letter qualifiers are no longer available. I was wondering if anyone knew where I might still be able to find this tire. Contact me at clm11@albion.edu with info. Thanks.

My son gave me a 1983 CB 1000 10 speed. A long ago 1962 R69s BMW rider now looking forward to riding the Honda.. Being repaired at the local Honda shop; carbs, tires etc. Has 35,000 miles on it.

Mechanics enjoying getting it road ready and excellent remarks as to condition. But needs a right side CB 1000 side plate. Black preferred but will take grey and paint."ceco_intp@hotmail.com"

I bought my 83 CB1000 Custom for 450 bucks back in 1989. The kid needed money really bad, his parents did not back him up. The bike has 23,000 miles on it, I have chromed lots of parts and she looks good. The only problem is I have not run it for years cause my 1976 Corvette project took most of my time, but am ready to start work on my bike. This bike was dream to ride.

I have owned my 83 CB1000C since new. I have put 242,300km on it and counting. I always took great care of it and stored it indoors. All recommended maintenance was always done at scheduled intervals. No major problems other than wear and tear items. Engine rebuilt at around 160,000 including new cylinder head. Bike is still in great shape and used daily. I have taken it all over North America and it's never let me down. Great bike, would recommend it to anyone, better ride, more comfortable, and definitely faster than the expensive Harleys everyone likes these days.

I just bought a CB1000C, my third, from a dealer in Oklahoma City. It's probably an 8 1/2 on a 10 scale. I would like to find Hondaline saddlebags for this model. Anyone who has a set or knows where to get one can contact me at cfrick@columbus.rr.com or call me at 740-454-7919 or 740-221-2160

Thanks!

I am having the rattle in my Honda CB1000. If it is indeed the cam chain, what does this kind of repair cost? What does it cost to tighten the chain normally? I love this bike.

Is there anyone who can help in this endeavor?
