Hi, I've had my Blaster for a year now, selling it and getting a car.
Overall it has been a good little bike. Bought it for £1500 on a 07 brand new. Got it de-restricted when I had done 500 miles.
I was getting 50 all day long, and 40 up hills, and the occasional 65 on a carriageway when it wants to move, but due to my research I have discovered a few problems...
The mudguard screws tend to come out very easy, so you find yourself constantly replacing them.
The exhaust gets very hot and rusts extremely easy, which is an eyesore...
The mirrors come slack very easy; you may as well not have a boot, it is that small; just enough space to fit a box of cigarettes, and when you first start it the acceleration is red hot, but tends to die after about 15 minutes of driving it.
Like someone said, not a scooter for the wet; I found myself coming off doing 50mph round a roundabout (lucky to come away with a few bumps and scrapes), but all in all it's the best scooter I've ridden.
It just has its minor faults, which ges on your nerves, and performance wise I would recommend putting a Doppler Powerpipe on; you can get them from www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk, but make sure you de-restrict it before installing it. You can also get a Doppler chrome air filter from there, which looks very sporty and increases the performance and stops the bike sounding like a hairdryer.
You can purchase a boots bottle, which increases your fuel to air intake, giving the scooter a little boost at the push of a button, and I would recommend getting Lexus rear lights installed instead of the standard; they're a bit plain. Also carbon fibre look alike indicators, and a pair of Michelin tyres.
After tackling the Blaster's minor faults, and taking time and effort to purchase the right performance upgrades, the Blaster is definitely the one to leave your friend miles behind and turn the heads of others. All in all, not a bad little ped ;)
Hey, I am interested in getting an RS12 Blaster in a few months as I'm still only 15 years old, but a few of my mates have peds and said you can't ride them on dual carriageways? Is this true or are they just mad :S.
Thanks.
Greg.
This is a good scooter but waay to expensive:| I've got 4000km on the clock and my rear lights don't work, my indicators don't work, and my exhaust is the rustiest thing I've ever seen.
And the closest garage to me is about 50 miles away :|
Still to get it de-restricted, but I get 40 easily :)
MAIN JET PLEASE HELP.
I love this bike, been on the road with it for a good 4 months now, haven't fallen off it yet, and is so easy to ride! Beats all my mates mopeds in acceleration by a long shot every time, and still fully restricted but does 40mph.
I was wondering if anyone could help me... if you know what size the original MAIN JET is that comes with the moped? Just that I'm looking to get a new air filter and exhaust for mine... and it says upgrade the main jet by 10-15mm. Would help if I knew the actual size of the original. If anyone knows the size of it please get in touch at : georgeyreyn@hotmail.co.uk
Thanks.
Great bike.
Do not need to get it de-restricted; mine does 40 restricted.
Good acceleration; beat all my mates.
Very good bike; worth its money.
Help. I have a ex paddock RS 12 Blaster with 200 miles on the clock. It's restricted and will hardly touch 35. How do I make it go faster?
Hi there, My son has a 05 Ludix Blaster (liquid cooled). We had it redistricted 2 months ago, and it broke down & would only tickover & not rev up! We had a new filter put on and it ran OK for 2 weeks, but now it's doing exactly the same thing; won't rev up! Does anyone have any clue what it might be? The so called mechanic just keeps guessing and then charging us for it!! Please mail us with any info loadandrun@googlemail.com.
Thanks.
It may be the spark plug; I had a problem with it on mine; replaced it. They are a bit more expensive than normal as they are a funny size; cost me £5.
I have had a starting problem with my Ludix Blaster for a while now - it will try to fire on the electric start, but it just can't and it takes ages (probably about 15 kicks) to get it to start on the kick start... I've lived with it for about six months, but now it's just getting too much! Does anyone know what that could be?
Otherwise once it's started, you won't find a moped with more personality and character than a Blaster... I actually love it! Without question the best ped =)
I have a Blaster RS12 06 and it accelerates a dream. Fully de-restricted and does 50, maybe a bit over. Considering adding a Laser X Pro or Leo Vince sports exhaust, but have heard a sports exhaust can sometimes worsen acceleration or speed, anyone able to help me with this?
Thanks!
Hi guys.
Now about to order a Blaster Rcup 08 brand new.
What sort of exhaust should I get?
And if you know what website I can get one off?
Thanks a lot :)
Hi, I've had a Ludix Blaster a few weeks and had a few problems with it. i.e. it was spluttering on acceleration and can't open the throttle fully without it spluttering.
When I bought it it had a k&n air filter on it, old fuel, cheap 2 stroke oil and upgraded exhaust. I changed the spark plug to the correct one, emptied the old fuel and oil and replaced them.
Starts up fine, idles well after its warmed up, and runs better, but still can't open the throttle fully. Also by other reviews I've read, mine doesn't seem to be quite as fast as theirs; it'll only do 35ish tops. It is de-restricted "so I was told when I bought the bike" (7500 miles on the clock). Can anyone help me with this?
Hi.
Can anyone help me, I have a Ludix Blaster RS12.
When I have ridden it for a distance, the acceleration deteriorates and top speed is about 25mph. When it is first started up the acceleration is fine and top speed is 50mph. Does anyone know what the problem is?
Thanks Guys.
Connor.
Hi, I have been reading these posts with interest as I have a Ludix Blaster 50 with no spark. I read a post suggesting the problem might occur if the oil pump was faulty. Is there a way to temporarily bypass this to prove the point? I am not sure if I have a problem with the CDi unit or if an electrical sensor is faulty. All I know is that the big red STOP light is full on above the temp gauge and I get no spark. Any suggestions will be of great help, thanks Roland.
Hi people, I have a 56 reg Ludix Blaster, and it is rubbish. It's the worst bike I have ever had, and I've had quite a few.
I have had the starting problem, and not being able to open the throttle properly, and not ticking over problem. Me and a mechanic at my work stripped it down to the frame and started again, eventually we replaced the spark plug and put new jets in it, and cleaned the exhaust of unburnt fuel, and it goes perfect.
I have tried to put a sports pipe on it, and it worked for a week, and wouldn't go over 15 mph after that. I have no idea what the problem is there, but it is not worth the hassle. I would strongly recommend not getting one as they are terrible.
